Fitting Wall Lights With No Earth

I can t find an earth.
Fitting wall lights with no earth. There is no green yellow earth wire. Is there anyway i can make the wires class 2. To install a wall mounted light you ll use a ceiling box and wire just as you would for a ceiling light. Discussion in electricians talk started by katyg80 jan 6 2016.
Many lighting circuits usually installed pre 1966 are still in use that have no earthing. Hi melanie 865 lighting circuits pre 1966 did not have earth or circuit protective conductor no metal light switches or light fittings can be fitted unless marked as class 2 which is double insulated upgrade of the wiring would be twin and earth from the consumer unit to each ceiling rose and each switch this would be like a rewire for the lighting circuits lifting floorboards and chasing down. Note that the earth wire is referred to in the wiring regulations bs7671 as the circuit protective conductor or cpc so any notes you see in articles etc about lighting circuits without a cpc are discussing the same topic. Hello i hope you can help. The new fitting is metal and obviously has an earth connection to put in an earth wire. Fitting a ceiling light no earth wire. All of the internal lights have had earths and this hasn t been a problem up till now.
