Carpet Tack Strip Installation Doorway

Keep a space equal to about two thirds the thickness of the carpet between the walls and the tack strips using a scrap piece of carpet as a guide.
Carpet tack strip installation doorway. Pull the carpet over the top using a knee kicker. Install the transition. Flimsy wood tack strips yield easily to a sharp utility knife so you can replace pieces. Cut the edge of the carpet so that it reaches the edge of the tile perfectly.
Press forward on the knee portion of the tool to stretch the carpet and use a putty knife to tuck the edge of the carpet into the tack strip down in the floor. Start with a clean area. Install tack strips around door frames but not across the threshold to prevent stepping on the sharp points. Carpet to tile doorway transitions leave you with a couple of differen.
Carpet installation repairs. Repeat the process along the entire doorway until no portion of the carpet edge remains visible. Position the strips with the tack points facing the wall. Mark and cut a piece of carpet tack strip.
Place the carpet tack strip under the carpet about 1 2 inch from the transition point. As a rule of thumb make sure to install the tack strip for the carpet about 1 4 to 3 8 inches from the edge of the tile.
